Two foreign ships stranded near Mongla port due to low water level

Two foreign vessels were stranded at Mongla Port after low water levels for at least three consecutive days.

The flag-carrying ship MV CS Future from Panama has been stranded at Outer Bar since September 30, and MV Pioneer Dream, Tuvalu flag-carrying ship MV Pioneer Dream since October 1. Our Bagerhat correspondent quotes port authorities.

The crisis has been resolved, Commander Sheikh Fakhar Umdin, the harbour master at the Mongla Port, stated.

Humayun Kabir Patawari is the proprietor of Park Shipping. He stated that the MV CS Future ship was carrying 23,000 metric tons of urea fertilizer and the MV Pioneer Dream arrived in Mongla Port with 11,000 metric tons of ceramic products.

"The two ships were unable to enter the port jetty due to low water levels and the river's depth due to siltation. Humayun Kabir Patawari stated that they have spoken to the port authorities and were assured of taking the necessary steps to anchor both ships.

Commander Sheikh Fakhar Uddin expressed hope that the water level in the channel would rise tomorrow or tomorrow and that the two ships could enter the jetty quickly.

He said that the water level crisis is caused by siltation in the channel after the capital dredging.
